The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, and his wife, Mrs Abibat Basiru, on Saturday joined millions of voters across Osun State to cast their ballots in the ongoing governorship election.
The couple arrived at Ward 7, Unit 3, in Osogbo Local Government Area, at about 8:45 a.m. and exercised their franchise shortly after voting commenced.
Speaking with journalists after casting his ballot, Basiru commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the early deployment of electoral materials and personnel to polling units across the state.
He also praised the impressive turnout of voters, describing it as a clear demonstration of the people’s commitment to democracy and the electoral process.
The APC chieftain equally commended security agencies for their deployment across the state, saying their presence had contributed to maintaining peace and order at polling centres.
Basiru described the voting process at his polling unit as peaceful and hitch-free, expressing optimism that the election would be free, fair and credible.
He, however, expressed confidence in the APC’s chances at the poll, saying he was optimistic that the party would emerge victorious when the final results are announced.
Voting is still ongoing in various parts of Osun State amid tight security and a strong turnout of voters.
