Super Falcons Star Deactivates Instagram Account After WAFCON 2026, W’Cup Failure

Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie has deactivated her Instagram account following heavy online criticism and trolling from fans after Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup following a 2–1 playoff defeat to South Africa.

A 2–1 loss to South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the decisive playoff ended Nigeria’s qualification hopes for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.

The defeat marks the first time Nigeria will miss the Women’s World Cup since the competition began in 1991.

Following the disappointing results, some frustrated fans directed harsh comments and online abuse at players, singling out high-profile figures like Alozie.

Overwhelmed by the digital harassment, Alozie chose to disable her Instagram handle to escape the intense public scrutiny.
