Pre-Season: Chukwueze Scores Very Good Rating In Milan’s 2-2 Draw With Celtic

Date:

Samuel Chukwueze scored a very good rating, after helping AC Milan comeback from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Celtic providing an assist in their first pre-season game on Saturday.

The rating was compiled by Italian media publication, Sempre Milan.

Chukwueze, who was named among the substitutes, came on before the start of the second half with Milan 2-0 down, following first half goals by Celtic.

With the game at 2-2, the Super Eagles star then provided the assist for the equaliser, crossing the ball with the outside of his left foot which was nodded in.

Following his impressive display Sempre Milan scored Chukwueze 7.5 rating, with the Nigerian just one of two players to be awarded such rating.

Commenting on Chukwueze’s performance Sempre Milan wrote:”As you would expect, he made things happen and was a constant danger to the Celtic defence. The cross for Camarda’s second goal was absolutely lovely, and he was involved in other chances after that. A game-changer of sorts.”

Meanwhile AC Milan new head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed that Chukwueze will remain at the club for the 2026/27 season, putting an end to speculation over the Nigerian winger’s future.

Chukwueze spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Premier League side Fulham, where he contributed three goals and four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.

Fulham opted against making the move permanent after AC Milan stood firm on their €24 million valuation of the 27-year-old.

Despite recent reports linking Chukwueze with a move to Turkish clubs, Amorim has made it clear that the Nigeria international remains part of his plans for the new season at San Siro.

“Chukwu is staying with us. We need players who can play one-on-one, literally. Saelemaekers can play on the left or right. Cissé and Comotto will start preseason with us, but after that I really have no idea what will happen,” Amorim was quoted by eventi.news

“But it doesn’t matter where the players come from: if they play well, if they absorb the coaching, and if they have the right qualities to fill that gap, then we’ll find a place within the team.

“Before we look outside, let’s take a good look inside. Then at the end of preseason we’ll see what’s happened, paying close attention to the budget. I think Chukwueze has truly great qualities to be in our team, and he gives us options to play in other systems.”

He made the switch to AC Milan from Villarreal in 2023.
