The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has condemned President Tinubu’s approach to the nation’s security challenges, and said the president has shown that he lacks the capacity to manage intelligence-driven security system that adequately guarantees the safety of all Nigerians.
APM in a statement by Director, Strategic Communications of Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO), Richard Ihediwa, said the Tinubu’s “lackadaisical attitude to issues of security has emboldened terrorists, bandits and kidnappers to attack, kill, maim and take Nigerians captive on a daily basis.”
The party stated that the October 1, 2026 abduction of 19 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State to their orientation camps in the South-East and South-South parts of the country is yet another sad commentary on the failure of the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration to secure Nigeria citizens, particularly youths on national assignment.
“It is profoundly saddening and heartbreaking that under the watch of the Tinubu-led administration, parents toil, make immense sacrifices and struggle through biting economic hardship to train their children through tertiary institutions, only for them to be handed over to terrorists and bandits,” APM said.
According to the party, the latest abduction is not isolated, but part of the horrifying reality under the Tinubu administration, where homes, communities, markets, places of worship, schools and highways are being overrun by marauders and criminal elements.
APM said it is regrettable that Nigeria under President Tinubu is fast degenerating into a failed state where the primary constitutional duty of government, which is to ensure the security and welfare of citizens, has collapsed.
“In the three and half years of the Tinubu-led administration, more than 600,000 Nigerians have been reportedly killed by terrorists, bandits and marauders, while countless others continue to languish in their captors’ dens,” the party stated.
It advised President Tinubu to take a cue from the security approach of its presidential candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde in Oyo State, which it said, emphasises coordinated operations, intelligence, stronger collaboration, preventive measures and rapid response.
The party assured Nigerians that Makinde is a credible alternative to Tinubu”s failed administration, adding that Makinde has demonstrated the capacity, proficiency, experience and vigour to provide purposeful leadership and consistently lead from the front on all national issues.
