Group Denies Plan To Impeach Ondo Deputy Gov

Date:

A political group, the Ondo State Professionals in Politics Group (ODSPPG), has described as false the claim that the state Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, is facing political isolation within the government.

The group, through its Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Akinlabi, said the allegation of political isolation is a plot to cause political unrest in the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Akinlabi described the latest lies about Adelami, as unfounded, saying that available information clearly showed that the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowumi Isaac, is carrying out her duties in line with the stipulated financial and budgetary guidelines, especially as they affect the running of the Deputy Governor’s office.

The Group said the allegations that the relationship between Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, is nosediving over alleged growing political isolation, unpaid statutory entitlements and the gradual sidelining of the Deputy Governor, are unfounded and clearly part of the plots to cause political tension within the government.

Akinlabi said, “Our Group has carried out investigations and discovered that allegations that over ₦180 million in running expenses, travelling allowances and other statutory entitlements due to the Deputy Governor have remained unpaid for about eight months, as being circulated on social media, are also unfounded and unverifiable.

“The office of the Deputy Governor cannot confirm the allegations as being circulated, and our Group will not subscribe to the plot by some political elements to distract the administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa.”

The Group also dismissed the allegation against the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, of bypassing the Deputy Governor on the operations of his ministry, describing such as elementary because the commissioner is only working in line with Mr Governor’s extant directives.

According to the group, “Our Group has found from records that the Finance Commissioner does not at any time withhold statutory entitlements of Dr Adelami. It is unfair to accuse her of unfounded allegations. Enough is enough; this Group will not allow lies to continue to fly undeflated.

“Our findings within the Government show that there is no plot to impeach the Deputy Governor, contrary to speculations on social media; we advise members of the public to disregard misinformation and lies being circulated about the Government of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and allow it to concentrate on delivering more dividends of democracy to our people in Ondo State.”
