An agribusiness firm, Davidorlah Nigeria Limited, has called for increased investment in Africa’s agricultural value chains, saying strategic financing and infrastructure development are critical to driving economic growth and improving food security across the continent.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Segun Alabi, made the call while speaking at the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) 2026 held at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.

Delivering a presentation titled, “Building Africa’s Agri-Value Chains into Investable Infrastructure,” Alabi urged governments, development partners and private investors to reposition agriculture as an investment-driven sector capable of attracting long-term capital.

He said although Africa possesses enormous agricultural potential, the continent must address gaps in value addition, infrastructure, technology adoption, financing and market access to unlock the sector’s full economic value.

According to him, “Transforming agricultural value chains into investable infrastructure would not only boost food production but also stimulate industrialisation, expand export opportunities and generate employment for millions of Africans.”

Alabi stressed that “achieving these goals would require stronger collaboration among governments, development finance institutions, private investors and agribusiness operators to tackle the structural challenges limiting agricultural productivity and competitiveness.”

He noted that “coordinated investments across the agricultural value chain would help build resilient food systems while strengthening Africa’s position in the global agricultural market.”

The Africa Social Impact Summit brought together policymakers, business leaders, investors, development partners and social innovators to explore solutions for sustainable development and inclusive economic growth across the continent.

Davidorlah Nigeria Limited said its participation at the summit reflected its commitment to promoting agricultural transformation and encouraging greater private-sector investment in Nigeria’s agribusiness ecosystem.

According to the company, stakeholders at the summit also agreed that strengthening agricultural value chains is critical to improving food security, increasing productivity and positioning Africa as a competitive player in the global agricultural economy.
