UECL: Panathinaikos salute match-winner Dessers after CSKA Sofia victory

Date:

Panathinaikos have celebrated Cyriel Dessers’ match-winning strike against CSKA Sofia, DAILY POST reports.

Dessers came off the bench to score the decisive goal as Panathinaikos defeated their hosts 2-1 in the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League third qualifying round tie.

The Nigeria international, who was introduced five minutes after the hour mark, netted the winner in the fifth minute of first half extra-time.

The Greek giants booked a place in the playoff round 3-2 on aggregate after both teams battled to a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Dessers last featured for the Greens in December 2025, in a Greek Super Super League clash against Volos.

The 31-year-old sustained an injury while on international duty with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Panathinaikos posted a short message on their X account: “Back like he never left.”

DAILY POST recalls that Dessers was the first top scorer of the UEFA Europa Conference League, after scoring 10 goals for Feyenoord during the inaugural 2021–22 season.
