Gov Alia Congratulates GSS Gboko Basketball Team On Gold Medal Victory

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has expressed immense joy following the victory of the Government Secondary School (GSS), Gboko, girls’ basketball team at the 26th edition of the Nestlé Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship.

Representing Benue State at the national finals in Lagos, the GSS Gboko girls maintained an unbeaten record throughout five games, ultimately securing the championship title and bringing the gold trophy home to the state.

Governor Alia, who closely monitored the team’s progress during the competition, dispatched state officials to receive the champions in Abuja, ensuring their welfare and safe passage back to Benue State.

Expressing his pride in the young athletes and their coaching staff, the governor commended their dedication to making the state proud and announced that the government has prepared a special reward package in recognition of their outstanding achievement.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor said, “Our administration shall continue to support sporting activities to discover, nurture and showcase the abundant talents among our youth.”
