2026 NWFL Super Six: Enabulele Dedicates Edo Queens’ Victory To Gov. Okpebholo

The Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has dedicated the victory of Edo Queens Football Club to Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his unwavering support and commitment to sports development in the state.

Edo Queens Football Club emerged champions of the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six Finals after securing a hard-fought goalless draw against defending champions Bayelsa Queens in the Matchday 5 fixture on Sunday.

The encounter, witnessed by football fans at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, saw the 2024 champions demonstrate resilience, composure, and tactical discipline to hold their opponents and seal the championship.

The result confirmed Coach Moses Aduku’s side as the best-performing team in the Super Six playoffs.

Speaking, Hon. Enabulele praised Governor Monday Okpebholo for creating an enabling environment. He also commended the players and technical crew for their outstanding performance throughout the competition, describing the victory as a reward for hard work, discipline, and belief.

He noted that the team’s ability to recover from an opening defeat against Nasarawa Amazons showed the true character and fighting spirit of Edo Queens.

“I dedicate this victory to His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for creating an enabling environment for sports to thrive. He has assured us that his administration will remain committed to sustaining the growth of sports and that he will support Edo athletes to achieve greater heights.

“This victory belongs to everyone who believes in the Edo Queens project. The girls have shown tremendous commitment, discipline, and hunger for success. They fought for every ball, stayed focused, and proved that with determination and the right support, they can overcome any challenge,” Enabulele said.

Continuing, he stated: “I am particularly proud of how the team responded after the first game. They did not lose confidence; instead, they regrouped, worked harder, and produced outstanding performances that eventually made them champions. This is a team with character, and they deserve every honour that comes with this achievement,” he added.
